1 million to open: The London Children’s Museum needs your help

Help Open Our Doors to our new home at 100 Kellogg Lane!

After years of planning, dreaming, and building, we are so close to opening the doors to the new London Children’s Museum at 100 Kellogg Lane. But we urgently need your help.
We’ve had incredible support from our community so far, but $1 million is needed before the end of the year in order to open our doors on time. Let’s complete this journey the way we started it and our open our doors together.

This is the message found on the London Children’s Museum website here, as they work towards opening by the end of 2024.
The museum is a unique exhibition space designed to entertain and educate children through immersive play experiences. It focuses on history, culture, science, and art—crucial areas for children’s growth and development, helping them to learn while having fun.
The values of the London Children’s Museum are clear:

  • Listening to the community and prioritising children’s voices in decision-making.
  • Recognising the strength, competence, and innate ability of each individual. Valuing different perspectives and encouraging authenticity.
  • Promoting creativity and exploration, allowing everyone to take ownership of their learning.
  • Acknowledging and responding to visitors’ needs.
  • Ensuring inclusivity, with equal access to play and a sense of belonging in a welcoming environment for all ages.
  • Dreaming big, celebrating innovation, and the power of play.

Achieving all this is no small feat, but it is possible. The museum needs 1 million to complete the project and recover from the setbacks of the COVID-19 pandemic, which halted construction for years.

To date, 19 million dollars has been raised out of the 23 million required. However, an additional 1 million in donations is still needed to ensure construction stays on track and the museum opens by year’s end.

“We are so close to opening the doors to this incredible space. We know the community has been patient, supporting us in building and dreaming. Now, we just need their help to cross the finish line and open these doors,” said executive director Kate Ledgley to CBC News.
